This second review of research reports in European nursing in 2013 aims to update REFLECTION with data three years after the baseline review of 2010 to gauge success in transforming nursing research
REFLECTION published a review of research in nursing produced or undertaken in Europe by European nursing scientists, using publications from 2010 in the top 20 nursing journals rated by impact factor.
In this second review, we repeated the same process to determine the frequency of different primary and secondary research methods used in published nursing research, and the extent of translational, mixed/multi-methods and programmatic research into care provided by nurses three years after the first review using papers from 2013.
Project members identified, appraised and synthesised research reports using systematic searching, appraisal and data extraction methods. Project members formed international review groups under the overall direction of the core team from the Universities of Exeter, UK, Malmo, Sweden and Tromso, Norway.
