About Odete Araújo

I am assistant at the University of Minho (School of Nursing) in Portugal. I attended as a student of the European Academy of Nursing Science, the Summer School for Doctoral Studies 2011-2013.

Background

As a PhD student my research efforts are focused on the development of a research pilot programme organised in accordance with the Medical Research Council’s Framework for Complex Interventions. An intervention program is needed to increase caregiver´s preparedness, knowledge and practical skills on daily activities of the dependent old people after a stroke. Long-term outcomes will be measured by caregivers’ instrument, which will be constructed for this study, of different kinds of self-care (bath; eat/drink; (un)dress; elimination; move/walk) .The validation of this program will be important to describe the contribution of the nursing intervention on preparedness caregivers at home-dwelling.
