Improving health services for European citizens with dementia: Development of best practice strategies for the transition from ambulatory to institutional long-term care facilities

Project Overview

Given the increasing number of people with dementia, healthcare services in Europe must be prepared to deliver high quality and cost-effective long-term care. Current policy guidance is generally focused on reducing the growth of institutional care and on enhancing the provision of home and community services. To date, however, there is considerable variation in the extent to which different countries have achieved this goal. This project aimed to develop recommendations for transition from formal home care to institutional long-term nursing care facilities. RightTimePlaceCare Consortium consists of a multidisciplinary group of researchers from eight European countries.
