Lisette Schoonhoven is Professor of Nursing at the Clinical Academic Facility, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southampton, UK. She is also visiting professor at the Scientific Institute for Quality of Healthcare (IQ healthcare) at the Radboud university medical center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Her research focuses on quality and safety of nursing care and implementation.
Her role as Professor of Nursing involves studies on fundamental nursing care with a particular interest in skin health. She is part of the Wessex CLAHRC theme on this topic.
Lisette is also president-elect of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) and was the international chair of the 2014 international guideline development group.
Lisette is a nurse, and worked in nursing practice for 10 years. She studied health sciences/nursing science and did her PhD in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The clinical topic of both her Master’s and PhD thesis was pressure ulcers. Lisette also has a master in clinical epidemiology.
